The Initial Budget is a spreadsheet used by managers to review detailed project cost estimates for approval. The spreadsheet acts like a report that is part of a workflow system. Project Managers will submit the spreadsheet into a workflow and their bosses will receive emails indicating that a budget needs to be approved. The workflow can have as many steps as are needed. Each manager will have a different dollar limit on what they can approve. The manager can override the Unit Price or Quantity of any line item if they disagree with the Project Managers estimate. Individual Activities can be approved, such as Engineering or Erosion Control and/or the entire budget can be approved. Optionally users can be blocked from issuing PO's or Contracts until the Initial Budget is properly approved and authorized.
